Punjab will turn into another Kashmir under AAP, warns Capt Amarinder

Punjab Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday warned that the state could turn into another Kashmir under fascist forces like the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with Pakistan waiting for just such an opportunity to revive extremism in Punjab.

Captain Amarinder, while dismissing SAD’s Badals and AAP’s Arvind Singh as `meesne gappus and thugs’ (cunning liars and thieves), said the nexus between the Naxals and the Khalistanis in AAP would bring back the dark days of terrorism in Punjab, which lost more than 35,000 lives to extremist violence earlier.

The rise of communal forces under the Badals, and now the extremist threat posed by Kejriwal to Punjab needs to be countered before it can destroy the secular fabric of the state, the PPCC chief cautioned.

Warning the people against being taken in by the lies of `chitti topi wale’ Kejriwal and the corrupt Badal, Captain Amarinder said the AAP leader had exposed his nefarious designs on Punjab after plunging Delhi into a mega mess, while Parkash Singh Badal had even lied about his age, pretending to be in his early 80s though he was actually a classmate of Muktsar Congress candidate Karan Kaur Brar’s father, who would have been 94 had he been alive.

Referring to the increasing incidents of sacrilege in the state, Amarinder said anyone found guilty, including Badal himself, would be thrown behind bars and given exemplary punishment. Asserting that he had no sympathies for anyone resorting to divisive religious politics for their personal gains, the Congress chief ministerial candidate said he would get the Bargadi and other cases of religious desecration investigated and will ensure that the guilty are brought to book.

The Badals and their ministers and associates had been looting the state left, right and centre, said the PPCC chief, pointing out that while one of the Badals one was busy building hotels, the other was wasting public money on sangat darshans, and their `lambu’ associate was selling drugs and chitta at the cost of the state’s development and the lives of its people.

Calling upon the people to be cautious about whom they vote in this election, which was his last but would decide their future, Captain Amarinder expressed concern about the collapse of agriculture and farmer suicides, as well as the flight of industry from the state.

Employment and industrial revival would be taken up on priority, promised Amarinder, adding that a master plan would be put in place for comprehensive and inclusive development of Punjab.

Recalling that both agriculture and industry were prospering under his earlier tenure, from 2002 to 2007, Captain said farmers were getting timely payments and procurement, and his government had also brought BT cotton to the region, leading to multifold increase in the farmers’ produce.

Take note of Kejriwal's night stay at terrorist residence in Moga: Sukhbir Badal to EC

Take note of Kejriwal's night stay at terrorist residence in Moga: Sukhbir Badal to EC

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked the Election Commission to take note of AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal's night stay at the residence of a terrorist in Moga immediately.

In a statement here, Jr. Badal said the night stay by Kejriwal at the residence of Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) general Gurinder Singh alias Jaswinder Singh Ghali had vitiated the poll atmosphere in Punjab and given a fillip to radical forces. "This kind of conduct must be snubbed immediately", he said.

The SAD president said Kejriwal also had a moral responsibility to tell Punjabis why he had stayed at the residence of a dreaded militant in Moga two days back. "Not only did you stay at the residence of the KCF terrorist but also held a meeting with radical elements besides making calls to foreign countries".

In a statement here, Sukhbir said Punjabis had a right to know why Kejriwal was holding repeated meetings with extremist elements. "Earlier you met Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) front organisation Akhand Kirtani Jatha members, including R P Singh,at Mohali. You have also held meetings with radical elements who organised a separatist conclave more than one year back".

Badal said all these incidents proved that Kejriwal was hand in glove with radical elements. He said it also proved that the AAP Convenor was ready to go to any extent to get a few votes. Even compromise the unity and integrity of the country".

Badal said it was impossible to believe that the Moga AAP leadership did not know that they were putting up Kejriwal in a terrorist's house. "In fact it was deliberate. The AAP leadership wanted to send a signal to the radical elements that it was one with them".

He said this kind of politics was very dangerous for Punjab. He said terrorist Gurinder alias Jaswinder Ghali was involved in triggering off a bomb in Mandi Mustafa locality of Baghapurana in which a priest was killed. He said Gurinder was also responsible for placing tails of cows in temples to incite communal hatred.

Badal asked Kejriwal to explain what message he was sending to the Hindu community by aligning with forces who were bent on inciting communal hatred. He said peace and communal harmony had been achieved in Punjab after a long struggle. "We should not let it be frittered away by opportunistic outsiders who are only interested in grabbing power, even by rising on the shoulder of extremist forces", he added.

Fight against corrupt Badal and the biggest liar Kejriwal: Capt Amarinder

Dismissing any threat from either the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) or the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in these assembly polls, Punjab Congress President and Chief Ministerial nominee Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday said it was a fight between the Congress on the one hand and the most corrupt politician in India, Sukhbir Badal, and the biggest of all liars Arvind Kejriwal, on the other.

Exuding confidence of a Congress sweep in the assembly polls, Captain Amarinder negated any threat from either the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) or the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), saying he did not see them securing more than 25 and 12 seats respectively in these assembly polls.

The Congress would win hands down in the remaining, he said, adding that the party would be victorious in all the four Moga seats, while the SAD would trail heavily even in their strongholds of Lambi and Jalalabad – the seats of the Badal father-son duo. Sukhbir’s own constituency of Jalalabad is in a big mess, with no development since he himself had been busy all these years looting the state, said Amarinder.

He came down heavily on Parkash Singh Badal for the growing religious intolerance and incidents of sacrilege in the state, promising to put him behind bars after getting all cases of desecration reinvestigated. Referring to the CIA report linking Badal with Sikh extremists, Captain said the Akali elder was in the habit of exploiting people as well as religion to further his own interests.

He promised to free the SGPC, formed after a long struggle by the Sikh community, from the shackles of the Badals, who had transformed it into their personal fiefdom for political exploitation. He reiterated his support for anyone standing up against the Badals in the SGPC.

Captain Amarinder said AAP, with its Haryanvi leader and outsider base, could not prove stable governance to Punjab, which could not afford to experiment with a new dispensation in the midst of the crisis it is currently facing.

He pointed to reports of a large number of outsiders being brought in by AAP from other states for its roadshow in Patiala to warn the people against being taken in by Kejriwal’s false promises.

Capt. Amarinder vowed to throw behind bars Akali leaders like Brikam Singh Majithia and Tota Singh, who had destroyed the lives of lakhs of people with their drug mafia and food scams.

He lashed out at Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for allowing ministers like Majithia and Tota Singh to destroy the lives of people and implicate innocents in false cases. Badal, he said, was responsible for all the mess in the state, including dugs and chitta, as well as the suicides of farmers and the collapse of industry, as a result of his failure to take action against his guilty ministers.

Badal has never thought beyond his family, said Amarinder, adding that neither the Badals nor Kejriwal were concerned about the welfare of the people of Punjab. Under the Badal regime, industrialists from Punjab had invested more than one lakh crore of rupees in other states, choosing to flee Punjab due to the ill-conceived policies of the Akalis, he added.

SAD President "welcomes" announcement of Captain as congress CM candidate
27.01.17 - TEAM PT
SAD President

Sukhbir Badal today welcomed Rahul Gandhi's announcement making Amarinder Singh the chief ministerial candidate, saying the Congress party's decision to repose faith in a twice defeated and failed CM as proposed leader was good news for the SAD- BJP combine.

"Rahul's announcement of Amarinder as CM candidate is a good omen. It helped us last time too. Our battle is all but won. Forget Punjabis, even Congressmen are fed up with Amarinder's arrogant ways. The entire senior leadership be it Manpreet Badal, Navjot Sidhu, Partap Bajwa or Bibi Bhattal, no one wants him to become CM. Now they will unite as one to keep him away from the CM's chair. Our work will be done by them".

In a statement here, Badal said "Rahul has chosen a lame horse who has already failed twice earlier. This time Amarinder will not only make it a hat trick of defeats but will also take down the party with him. It is a known fact that wherever the Congress loses thrice in a row it ceases to exist as a political entity. This is going to happen in Punjab now".

The SAD president said Rahul Gandhi was living in a fool's paradise if he thought announcing Amarinder as chief ministerial candidate would help the party. "Punjabis have not forgotten the wounds inflicted by your family on them. Your grand mother ordered tanks and artillery into the Darbar Sahab. Your father instigated Congressmen and lumpen elements to massacre Sikhs in 1984. How can Punjabis ever repose faith in you and your choices".

Badal asked Punjabis to evaluate Amarinder's performance before taking any decision on whom to give their mandate. "This is a person who has never visited a single ward of Patiala despite having represented it for years. Amarinder never visited Amritsar despite being elected as an MP from the holy city. He never attended parliament. He has always been missing from the State. How can you ever repose faith in such a person?"

Speaking about Amarinder's performance as CM, he said the Congress leader was responsible for withdrawing the free power facility extended to farmers. He said Amarinder also withdrew welfare schemes and had also put a ban on government recruitment. "This is his track record as CM. It is good Rahul has chosen him as CM candidate. It is indeed good news for us".

Name your CM candidate if you’re sincere about Punjab’s welfare, Amarinder dares Kejriwal

Name your CM candidate if you’re sincere about Punjab’s welfare, Amarinder dares Kejriwal

Questioning the credibility of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to govern a state for which it is a complete outsider, Captain Amarinder Singh has once again challenged Arvind Kejriwal to name his party’s chief ministerial candidate to prove that he is sincere about the welfare of the people of Punjab.

Captain Amarinder flayed Kejriwal’s continued attempts to make a back-door entry to grab the chief ministerial post in Punjab without contesting the polls.

Pointing out that all other major political parties in the fray had clearly projected their CM faces, Amarinder said there was enough evidence to indicate that Kejriwal himself was eying the top post in the state despite his total disconnect with Punjab’s people and their concerns.

Despite being repeatedly asked to clarify his stand on the chief ministerial candidate, as well as other vital issues such as SYL, Kejriwal continued to maintain a stoic silence, clearly indicated a nefarious design on his part, said the PPCC president.

Kejriwal’s adamant refusal to name a Punjabi chief ministerial candidate and to clarify on the AAP candidate for deputy CM’s post gives suggests that he is interested in taking over the coveted post, as was in fact publicly mentioned by his own party leader recently, said Amarinder.

The PPCC chief lashed out at Kejriwal for furthering his personal interests at the cost of the people of Punjab, who could not afford to experiment with outsiders at a critical juncture when the state needed an experienced leadership of people with roots in Punjab and an understanding of its problems.

AAP’s total disconnect with Punjab was evident from the fact that it was bringing in thousands of people from other states to steer its electioneering, said Captain, adding that Kejriwal himself, as a Haryanvi, could not be expected to stand by Punjab on issues of SYL, Chandigarh and Punjabi language, which had been simmering between Haryana and Punjab for decades.

Amarinder said there was no difference between the Akalis and AAP, with both only interested in promoting their vested interests by looting Punjab and its people.

Captain Amarinder warned of strict action against all politicians and police officers involving in framing innocent people in fake cases and vowed to bring to book those responsible for pushing the state’s youth into drugs.
