Sukhbir Singh Badal today while welcoming Ravneet Bittu's candidature from Jalalabad, said the Congress leader was coming to fight a sham contest so as to remain in Rahul Gandhi's good books.
In a statement here, Badal said Ravneet Bittu also had chief ministerial aspirations and after Amarinder Singh was forced to contest from Lambi he also put his hat in the ring. "Ravneet feels Rahul will get impressed by this show of bravado and keep him in mind while deciding the CM candidate".
Badal said such false bravado had no value. "If Ravneet is serious about contesting from Jalalabad he should resign from the Ludhina parliamentary seat. If he does not do that it will be clear to the people that he is engaging in a sham contest with the sole purpose of raising his stick in the Congress and has no commitment to Jalalabad".
The SAD president meanwhile offered the services of a guide to Bittu so that he could navigate his way in Jalalabad. "I doubt you have ever visited the constituency and you could get lost alone as there is hardly any Congressman left in the constituency"he added.
