Khalsa College Patiala celebrated the 350th birth anniversary of the Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. On this occasion, Paath of Sukhmani Sahib was done in the Gurdwara of the college and after Ardas, Langar was served to all. The teachers and students of post graduation department of Music performed Kirtan.
S. Indermohan Singh Bajaj, Honorary Secretary, Local Managing Committee, graced the occasion. While addressing the gathering S. Indermohan Singh Bajaj said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji propounded the concept of Saint-Soldier which was instrumental in procuring independence for the Indians who had been under slavery for 900 years. The teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji should be devotedly followed by us so as to combat the emotional and physical maladies of modern civilization.
Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, Principal of the college, while talking about the magnanimous personality of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji said that we must follow the tenets of Sikhism with great devotion and endeavor to imbibe the qualities and virtues of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji who was a Spiritual Master, Warrior, Poet and Philosopher. It is essential he, said, to understand the deep spiritual message embedded in the life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji to ameliorate and elevate our lives and lead ourselves towards a holistic growth.
Dr. Tarlochan Singh Mahajan, Vice Principal of the college gave a detailed account of life and achievements of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji fought against oppression and tyranny without having any feeling of disrespect towards any religion.
