Yogendra Yadav, the psephologist, puts his reputation at stake, says BJP will lose Gujarat

RAHUL GANDHI WILL defeat Narendra Modi in Gujarat, says one of India's top psephologists, Yogendra Yadav. Now leading Swaraj India as a political force, Yogendra Yadav said there is no way the BJP can form the next government in Gujarat. He based his claim on a close study of multiple tracker polls.

Yadav, himself an academic-turned-activist-turned politician, and a prime moral force behind Aam Aadmi Party before he was kicked out in a most unseemly fashion by Arvind Kejriwal and his cohort and formed Swaraj Abhiyan, is taken seriously by most political pundits.
--------
Yogendra Yadav will also be up for judgement on December 18 along with Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi.
--------
Yogendra Yadav analysed a poll survey conducted by a TV channel in conjunction with Centre for Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), and a few more surveys also, and came up with three possible scenarios. Not one of them will be to the liking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"The most likely outcome of the coming elections in Gujarat is a clear defeat for the BJP and, consequently, a clear victory for the Congress," Yadav has now said, having analysed poll survey data.

He said the surveys show that the BJP and Congress could either be neck and neck at 43% vote share each, or BJP could garner 41% and lag behind Congress with 45%, or, the BJP could even be virtually wiped off the Gujarat map by the Congress.

In no scenario can the BJP form the next government, Yogendra Yadav has said.

As per his predictions, a 43% vote share each will leave BJP with 86 seats and Congress with 92 seats. Gujarat Assembly has a total of 182 seats. Yogendra said this was the most likely outcome.
--------
In one of the scenarios that Yadav painted, the BJP could even face a near total  rout in Gujarat. In no scenario can it form the next government.
--------
If the BJP share fell to 41%, that would mean a mere 65 seats with Congress walking away with 113.

Yadav consulted and studied several pre-election tracker surveys carried out separately by India TV, Times Now-VMR, and ABP-CSDS.

He said a victory of BJP in Gujarat would have meant little, but a defeat would mean an earthquake for the party. Yadav said this was because the hype of the ‘Gujarat model’ has finally been punctured by the reality of rural distress and little progress on most social indicators.

"The most likely outcome of the coming elections in Gujarat is a clear defeat for the BJP and, consequently, a clear victory for the Congress," he said, adding he based his deductions on surveys that were well conducted. About the key survey undertaken by Lokniti-CSDS, with which Yadav had remained associated in the past till he jumped headlong into politics, the much respected psephologist said it has "made public all its findings in a fairly transparent way."

Yadav said his own feedback from Gujarat was in line with the findings of the surveys. Now that he has staked his reputation as a psephologist, based, of course, on surveys in which he has had little hand, Yogendra Yadav will also be up for judgement on December 18 along with Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi.

CHAI PAR SUICIDE?
Meet Mankar. Sorry, he’s dead. Modi met him, though - for Chai Pe Charcha
12.12.17 - PT Bureau
Meet Mankar. Sorry, he’s dead. Modi met him, though - for Chai Pe Charcha

YAVATMAL: Meet farmer Kailas Kisan Mankar, native of village Dabhadi, Tehsil Arni. No, sorry, you can’t meet him. He died on Monday, December 11. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was fortunate to have met him, or Mankar was fortunate to have met Modi, who was still to become Prime Minister in that summer of 2014.

Modi jolted the country when he stopped by in Mankar’s village. Mani Shanker Aiyar’s "chai waala” barb was still in the air, and Modi was preparing to jump on it just as he jumped on to the dinner meeting between some Pakistani leaders and Aiyar.

As the wanna-be prime minister landed in Dabhadi, "Chai Pe Charcha” became an iconic event, marking every pit stop, every stump speech. Always careful while choosing his launch pads for electoral missiles, Modi had picked Dabhadi, because the village had reported the most farmer suicides.

Modi became Prime Minister. Mankar did not have any hope that he will get an invite for a high tea, but people did think Dabhadi would not see another suicide. At least, not Mankar. He had shaken hands with Modi, become famous, given interviews. On Monday, he became the 18th farmer from village Dabhadi to commit suicide. He was 27, and isn’t the first farmer to have committed suicide after sharing a cup of tea with Modi.
---------

He had shaken hands with Modi, become famous, given interviews. On Monday, he became the 18th farmer from village Dabhadi to commit suicide.

---------

If Prime Minister Modi missed his pal whom he befriended over a cup of tea, his speeches yesterday and today did not betray that fact.

Kailas Mankar, who owned three acres of land and was the sole bread winner for his family, was reeling under mounting debt, shattered by repeated crop failures. On Monday, when the BJP and the Congress were busy educating India about role of Pakistan, or lack of it, in Gujarat elections, Mankar preferred some poison over tea, ending perhaps many an argument that politicians indulged in.
---------
Now that Jantar Mantar is out of bounds for Dabhadi’s farmers, Mankar is no more, and Modi has shared a cup of tea with the likes of Barack Obama, one wonders if Dabhadi still brews something, other than hopelessness.
---------
Hope had crashed much before Mankar took the extreme step. Villagers from Dabhadi had gone to Delhi in April this year, under the leadership of local Congress leader Shivajirao Moghe to join a protest rally at Jantar Mantar, ostensibly to remind Modi of the promises that he had failed to fulfil.

Earlier, another farmer, Vithal Rathod (45), who hailed from Dabhadi village in Yavatmal, and had attended the 'Chai Pe Charcha' programme of Prime Minister Modi, had committed suicide on February 24, 2015

Now that Jantar Mantar is out of bounds for Dabhadi’s farmers, Mankar is no more, and Modi has shared a cup of tea with the likes of Barack Obama, one wonders if Dabhadi still brews something, other than hopelessness. Political activists seemed sure that the death will not make headlines in Gujarat election campaign, even if a lot of it is about farmers.

AFTER PADMAWATI, RAJASTHAN’S NEW ICON OF PRIDE
Rajasthan, where they write poems hailing Shambu Lal Regar - Jaane Kya Dikh Jaaye!
11.12.17 - Kamjaat Singh
Rajasthan, where they write poems hailing Shambu Lal Regar - Jaane Kya Dikh Jaaye!

HUNDREDS OF MESSAGES hailing Shambu Lal Regar as the saviour of Hindu pride and izzat and a warrior against love jihad are now doing the rounds in Rajasthan while several campaigns have been initiated to collect funds for extending monetary help to his family. Shambu Lal Regar is the man who had hacked to death a Muslim labourer Mohammed Afrazul, burnt him alive and circulated a video of his act, spewing venom against Muslims and accusing them of unleashing love jihad against Hindu women.

Now, many in Rajasthan have been writing poems and circulating these on WhatsApp groups to raise money and exhort people to stand up for the ‘ideals’ for which ‘Shambu Lal fought.’

A WhatsApp group, ‘Swachh Rajsamand, Swachh Bharat,’ is currently the rage with messages like "Love jihadiyon saavdhaan. Jaag utha hai Shambhu Lal, Jai Shri Ram.

The group, set up one Prem Mali, a ‘booth vistarak’ of BJP in Rajsamand, has BJP MP from Rajsamand Hariom Singh Rathore and MLA Kiran Maheshwari as members. Neither has quit the group so far.
----------
While politicians of all hues have strongly condemned the incident, not a single move has been made against any political activist even though hundreds of politicians, including some very senior figures, are on record peddling propaganda that Muslim youth were involved in love jihad conspiracy against Hindu women.
----------
Messages extolling his horrendous, inhuman, barbaric deed, and the utterly communal statements he made have been finding acceptance in certain sections. For the record, police arrested two people for publishing inflammatory content on Facebook regarding the horrific incident in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand district.

Both middle class men, Pintu Joshi and Kailash Dangi, one involved in construction business and the other an architect, were arrested and booked by the police at the Mavli police station in Udaipur district on charges of promoting enmity between different groups, police have confirmed.

While politicians of all hues have strongly condemned the incident, not a single move has been made against any political activist even though hundreds of politicians, including some very senior figures, are on record peddling propaganda that Muslim youth were involved in love jihad conspiracy against Hindu women.
---------
Now, many in Rajasthan have been writing poems and circulating these on WhatsApp groups to raise money and exhort people to stand up for the ‘ideals’ for which ‘Shambu Lal fought.’
---------
Senior ministers have not even issued a word of caution to party cadre not to fan rank communal propaganda. Top BJP leaders currently busy finding the hand of the Deep State of Pakistan in Gujarat elections have yet to find time to tweet about Mohammed Afrazul. Rajasthan’s BJP government, which had blocked all social media on internet after the incident, has been prompt in lifting any curbs.

Most internet searches for news about the hacking incident in Rajsamand also throw up the accompanying ubiquitous Google ads about Rajasthan Tourism, with a tagline eerily appropriate – Jaane Kya Dikh Jaaye! Perhaps a teenage boy making a video as his uncle sets up a barbecue – roasting a man alive! Incredible India.

Wife kills husband, pours acid on lover's face to pass him off as hubby

In quite a remarkable series of ghastly events, a Telangana woman inspired by a famous Telugu film Yevadu killed her husband and poured acid on her boyfriend’s face to get him plastic surgery to make him look like her deceased hubby.

Swathi Reddy, along with her boyfriend Rajesh, murdered her husband Sudhakar Reddy and burned his body in a forest. The entire drama enacted by the duo started to unravel slowly as the deceased person's family members slowly got suspicious over the behaviour of their 'son' who was replaced by the lover. By the time they sensed that something is fishy, they had already spent Rs 5 lakh on the treatment of the lover.

Swathi was married to Sudhakar Reddy and had recently, got into an illicit relationship with Rajesh. Swathi and Rajesh decided to kill Sudhakar so they can live together and take possession of the husband's assets.

On November 26, 2017, Swathi and Rajesh attacked Sudhakar Reddy with a blunt weapon on the head while he was sleeping and later shifted the body to Maisamma reserve forest area of Fatehpur mandal and burnt it down.

Two days later, Swathi disfigured Rajesh's face by pouring acid on him and claimed before the family members that it was Sudhakar Reddy who had suffered burns in an attack by unknown persons when he was in Hyderabad. Managing to convince her in-laws, Swathi got Rajesh admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad itself.

During one of their hospital visits, Sudhakar's relatives realised that the man undergoing treatment is someone else and they immediately informed the police. Swathi was arrested and Sudhakar's body was recovered from the forest area.

The police meanwhile used Rajesh’s fingerprints and matched it with Sudhakar’s Aadhaar details and found he was an imposter. This led the cops to bust the bizarre crime that had taken place

During the investigation, the woman revealed the entire plot and said she killed her husband and then adopted the storyline of Yevadu to live with Rajesh.

Both Swathi and her boyfriend Rajesh have been arrested and sent to judicial custody.

PAK MEDDLING CHARGES

Modi must apologise for spreading falsehood to score political points: Manmohan

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh on Monday expressed anguish at the "falsehood” and "canards” being spread by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "score political points”. In a statement, the former PM said "Modi is setting a dangerous precedent by his insatiable desire to tarnish every constitutional office, including that of a former Prime Minister and Army Chief”.

"I am deeply pained and anguished by the falsehood and canards being spread to score political points in a lost cause by none less than PM Shri Narendra Modi." read the statement.

At an election rally in Gujarat, Modi suggested that Singh and others held a "secret meeting” with Pakistani officials at suspended Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s residence to "influence” the outcome of the Gujarat elections.

Manmohan Singh called for the Prime Minister's apology and said: "I sincerely hope that Prime Minister will show the maturity and gravitas expected of the high office he holds instead of concentrating his energy solely on erroneously conceived brownie points."

Singh, former Vice President Hamid Ansari and former Army Chief Deepak Kapoor were among the guests at a dinner on Wednesday that also featured the Pakistan envoy, a former Pakistan minister, an ex-Pakistan army officer, former Indian diplomats and journalists. Dr Singh is the fourth guest from that dinner to stress that discussions revolved around India-Pak ties, not domestic politics or Gujarat polls.

"Sadly and regrettably, Mr Modi is setting a dangerous precedent by his insatiable desire to tarnish every constitutional office, including that of a former Prime Minister and Army Chief," the former PM said in his statement. "Fearing imminent defeat in Gujarat, desperation of Prime Minister to hurl every abuse and latch on to every straw is palpable," he added.

"My track record of public service to the country over last five decades is known to everyone. No one, including Sh. Modi, can lamely question it to gain lost political ground," he wrote.

The Congress Party needed no sermons on "nationalism” from a party and Prime Minister, ''whose compromised track record on fighting terrorism is well known,'' he said. Modi had "gone to Pakistan uninvited after the terrorist attacks in Udhampur and Gurdaspur,” he pointed out.

"Let him also tell the country the reason for inviting the infamous ISI of Pakistan to our strategic air base in Pathankot to investigate a terror attack that emanated from Pakistan,” he said.

"I reject the innuendos and falsehoods as I did not discuss Gujarat elections with anyone else at the dinner hosted by Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar as alleged by Shri Modi. Nor was the Gujarat issue raised by anyone else present at the dinner. The discussion was confined to India-Pakistan relations. Names of the distinguished Indian public servants and journalists present at the dinner are enclosed to this statement. None of them could be accused of indulging in any anti-national activities.

"I sincerely hope that he will apologize to the Nation for his ill thought transgression to restore the dignity of the office he occupies,” Dr. Singh said.

Full Statement:

"Pakistan’s High Commissioner, former foreign minister, India’s former vice-president and India’s former prime minister Manmohan Singh all met at Aiyar’s house, held a meeting for three hours, and then the next day, Mani Shankar calls Modi ‘neech.’ This is a serious and sensitive issue, being a meeting with the Pakistan High Commissioner. Also, what is the reason for such a secret meeting amidst Gujarat elections?” Modi had said.

Earlier today, the Congress responded by calling the BJP the real colluder, as it was the latter's government that gave Pakistani intelligence officials access to India's top air force base in Pathankot after the terror attack there.

It also hit out at PM Modi for his "highly irresponsible comments," clarifying that the meeting was actually a social event attended by top dignitaries, diplomats and even the former Army chief.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, too, chimed in, asking PM Modi to take requisite action if he believes Pakistan is interfering in India's internal affairs.

"If PM honestly believes then he must immediately take action. He must direct NIA to arrest them because if he believes that Pakistan is interfering, then tell NIA. Why doesn't he use Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act or NSA," ANI quoted him as saying.
